Peace and Goodwill

Peace and Goodwill

As the Apostle Luke described the details of Christ’s birth, he added, “… suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

Jefferson County Community Ministries witnessed this same spirit of peace and good will as we participated in the annual Charles Town Christmas Parade Saturday afternoon.   People from every walk of life lined the streets from Ranson to Charles Town in joyous celebration of the Christmas season.

We were deeply moved by scenes of kindness, unselfishness, and gratitude as we mingled with our community neighbors.   Families and friends gathered along sidewalks, calling “Merry Christmas” and encouraging their children to thank parade participants for gifts and treats.  Little ones wearing bright smiles waved and pointed to their favorite floats.  Police officers held children in their arms, firefighters joked with their neighbors, and emergency personnel graciously thanked those who stopped to thank them for their service.  Neighbors cheering neighbors made for a delightful Christmas celebration.

Thank you to our parade organizers!  Thank you to our Jefferson County neighbors!.  Thank you to our staff and volunteers who spend countless hours assisting JCCM to serve our community!

Thank you, everyone, for helping us feel joy, peace, and good will this Christmas season!
