Senators request $1 million in congressional funds for JCCM

Our team at JCCM is ecstatic to share that our U.S. Senators, Senator Joe Manchin and Senator Shelley Moore Capito, have submitted a funding request to benefit Jefferson County Community Ministries to the U.S. Senate’s Appropriations Committee. This committee is responsible for forming the federal spending legislation for fiscal year 2024 (FY24). Moved forward by both senators, this congressional grant, totaling $1 million, would provide funding for the partial development of Phase 1 of construction for our new Jefferson County Community Services Center, we call, The Neighbor Project.

While this is the first stage of the FY24 federal spending legislation process, and the ultimate award of this funding is not yet certain or guaranteed, JCCM is beyond grateful to both Senators for being strong and ongoing champions for our community and organization!

Accordingly, due to a generous donation from the City of Ranson of 1.3 acres of land and two large buildings, 13,000 square feet each, we have begun the full development plan for our new center.

Through partnerships with Jefferson County, the City of Charles Town, the City of Ranson, WVU Medicine, and several key organizations in the region, we have developed the concept and shall work towards the building which will be home to:

·      WVU Medicine Medical Clinic
·      Dental Clinic
·      JCCM Food Pantry
·      JCCM Clothing Bank
·      Kitchen and Dining Area for Clients
·      Cold Weather and Emergency Shelter
·     Homeless Shelter and Family Shelter

As such, we remain committed to advancing the project with the help of our neighbors!
